Why This Conservative Ohio Republican Is Supporting Democrat Ted Strickland.
Early next year, when the cataclysmic war over the state budget is being fought, I want a Governor that will stand up for Joe and Jane Taxpayer. I want a Governor that will resist the big corporations with their herds of lobbyists. A Governor that will fight the insurance companies that are seeking to profit off the misfortune of their customers.
A Governor that is proud of Ohio, what it was, and what it can become again. A Governor who believes that government can be a tool just like Jim Rhodes did, to assist and grow new businesses.
I believe the best thing that can happen in Ohio is for Republicans to have control of the House and Senate and Democrats to control the Governor's office. Split government will result in the best possible options for the average citizen that has little or no representation at Broad and High streets.
