The Bachelor’s Holly and Jimmy hit back at cancel culture following backlash from OnlyFans comments

The Bachelor’s Holly Kingston and Jimmy Nicholson have doubled down on their disparaging comments about reality stars who make a living on OnlyFans.

The couple sparked outraged last Tuesday when they said selling naked photos isn’t ’empowering’ and that reality TV stars should promote charities instead of ‘grabbing money’.

Despite receiving furious backlash, with the likes of Abbie Chatfield piling in, the pair defended their viewpoint in an statement on Instagram on Sunday.

They began by saying they’d only mentioned OnlyFans during their Q&A last week because so many of their followers had asked if they were going to join the adult website.

They emphasised that they aren’t against sex work – but also won’t be bullied into saying it is ’empowering’ just because that is the politically correct opinion.

‘Over the last year, we have received literally hundreds of messages that have assumed that, because we met on a reality TV show, we would be setting up an OnlyFans account. We will not be, ‘they said in a joint statement.

‘We have no issue with someone who freely and legally works in the sex industry, whether it is on OnlyFans or elsewhere.

‘However, like most of the people who have reached out to us, we don’t believe it is the best way to promote male / female empowerment to young people. That’s just our opinion. ‘

The pair went on to condemn cancel culture, revealing they’d been subjected to a wave of ‘abusive messages, character assassinations, cancellation attempts, death threats and a gross invasion of the basic human right to feel safe in our own home’.

‘We believe that being “progressive and open-minded” doesn’t mean you have the same, narrow worldview as other people who call themselves “progressive and open-minded”. It means you are willing to tolerate views that are different to your own, ‘they wrote.

‘It is not acceptable to bully, harass or threaten anyone (online or in the “real world”) whether you disagree with them or not. Furthermore, if you have a public profile, we believe it is especially important to encourage a constructive non-biased discussion rather than an attack. ‘

Doubling down on their beliefs, the couple concluded: ‘We won’t be bullied into submission; we will continue to stand up for issues we believe in. ‘

‘We are not against OnlyFans. We are against a toxic trend that says it is okay to bully or “cancel” people you disagree with just because they have a different opinion to you. We think that is the real threat to empowering people in our society. ‘

Jimmy and Holly shared their thoughts on OnlyFans during an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday last week.

The pair slammed the X-rated platform and said reality stars were just trying to ‘grab money’ by selling nude photos and videos of themselves online.

‘We get this question a lot and we figured now is a good time to just answer it once and for all,’ Holly began.

‘No judgment towards anyone who does OnlyFans, but I think there has been a little bit of a trend in people coming off reality shows and leveraging that degree of fame to then sell nudes online.’

Jimmy added that his issue with the increasing number of reality stars joining OnlyFans is that they claim they’re doing it for ‘female and male empowerment’.

‘I think that’s a load of crap, personally,’ he quipped. ‘I think you should be a role model to the future generations.

‘If you want to celebrate male or female empowerment, start a charity, donate to breast cancer awareness or prostate cancer awareness,’ he continued.

‘I think it’s a way to grab money, and [you should] think about the example you’re setting for the future generations, for your kids when they’re in school. ‘

Holly then weighed in with her thoughts on the controversial subject.

‘Our view: Normalising selling naked photos on the internet doesn’t equal male / female empowerment,’ she wrote. ‘If this is your view, totally fine. Just won’t be something we’ll be doing. Thanks for coming to our TED Talk. ‘

The couple’s commentary drew the ire of Bachelor reject Abbie Chatfield, who lashed out at the pair in a lengthy Instagram rant on Wednesday.

‘The tone of voice of no judgment but here’s our judgment is not ideal but no one actually asked you thought of what the morality around Only Fans or sex work was,’ Abbie chided the duo.

She continued: ‘They just asked if you would do it and to be honest I don’t think anyone really cared that much. I just kind of felt like a vessel to speak about your dismissal of people who do Only Fans. ‘

Abbie went on to say she isn’t sure how it’s any different from her or Jimmy and Holly using their ‘fame’ to make money on Instagram or social media.

‘It’s the same we commodify content but obviously sex workers are very different in the way they are marginalised… and treated.’

OnlyFans has become a lucrative career option for Australian reality stars in recent years.

Married At First Sight star Olivia Frazer is the latest celebrity to join the platform, having recently revealed she earned $ 10,000 in her first day.

Since then, she’s believed to have raked in more than $ 100,000, while her boyfriend Jackson has followed in her footsteps by signing up too.

Other Married At First Sight stars to launch careers on OnlyFans include Jessika Power, Alana Lister, Hayley Vernon, and even grandmother Mishel Karen.
