After his arrest on February 23, Madsen reportedly spent the night at the police station in Malibu before being issued a $ 500 citation for misdemeanor trespassing.

The arrest happened six days after the Thelma & Louise alum was said to have been evicted from his $ 5.3M Malibu mansion, and a month after his son Hudson Lee died, age 26, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hudson had been an active Army sergeant stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, and he confessed to Michael that he wanted to leave the Army and start a family with his wife Carlie but they had fertility problems.

‘I found the biggest fertility clinic in [California]. And so I called Hud and his wife and I said, “I got you guys a doctor. It’s going to cost a lot of money, ”’Madsen recalled on The Up & Adam Show on April 11.

‘I said, “Guys I got it covered. I’ll take care of it. I want you guys to have a kid. Bring her here. Don’t mail her eggs to some place. Why don’t you guys just get on a plane and come over here and meet the people? And I’ll pay for the whole f *** ing thing. ”

‘And then I get another text, “Thank you dad. I appreciate that dad. Love you dad. ” And it’s still in my phone by the way. I never erased it and two days later we hear from the military that he shot himself. ‘

The Incarnation actor – whose sister is Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen – said he was already in ‘bad place’ thanks to the pandemic and losing his house in the 2018 Woolsey Fire, and his son’s death nearly destroyed him.

‘I was gone, man. Mentally, I was gone. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what to do with myself it was a bad time, man. And it is still going on, ‘Michael confessed.

But Madsen wanted to reassure fans that’s he’s okay: ‘Everybody can see that I’m not comatose. I’m not in a hospital. I’m not drunk. I’m not snorting drugs, you know. ‘

The avid poet and photographer has requested a full investigation done by the military because he claims ‘the officers and rank and file were shaming’ Hudson for wanting therapy.

Michael still has two sons – Calvin, 24; and Luke, 16 – from his 26-year marriage to third wife DeAnna Madsen as well as a daughter named Jessica.
