Gayle King has announced that she tested positive for COVID-19 after hosting CBS Mornings alongside her colleagues, and was asked to immediately ‘leave the building’ but stopped to chat with her unmasked co-workers on her way out.

The talk show host, 68, shared the news on Monday morning via an Instagram video, which was taken in the lobby of the CBS building.

The clip showed her wearing two masks as she talked to the camera about her diagnosis, admitting that she had been asked to exit the premise and quarantine at home.

‘The thing I’ve been dreading has finally happened. I just tested positive for – I got the ‘rona,’ she said.

‘They ran a test, and we’re gonna take one more just to be sure but in the meantime, I’ve been asked to leave the building and go home.’

Throughout the 35-second video, the journalist chatted with various CBS crew members and at one point, she even greeted her fellow anchor Nate Burleson, 40, who didn’t wear a mask.

‘Hi Gayle,’ he said to her as he walked right up to her without wearing a face covering. ‘You good?’

Someone from behind the camera quickly said, ‘You shouldn’t – keep walking Nate, you don’t have a mask on.’

A CBS worker then asked King to get out of the studio, to which she replied, ‘I’m leaving. I’m leaving. ‘

She added, ‘[It] finally happened to me, I’m double vaxxed and boosted. Go figure, ‘before ending the video.

‘My turn…’ she captioned the post.

King hosted Monday morning’s episode of the CBS talk show before finding out that she had the virus, during which she was joined by Burleson, Tony Dokoupil, and Vladimir Duthiers as they discussed Duthiers’ band Sound on Tape.

In a second video, King added, ‘It looks like I’ve got to accept the reality. I’ve had three PCR tests, all positive. Then I came home and took an at home test – two lines which means it’s positive.

‘It’s not good. I’ve had four tests that all say positive. I was hoping that this would be a false alarm because I had two of those before. ‘

King explained that she gets tested ‘all the time’ at CBS and that she was negative on Friday.

However, after developing a ‘slight cold’ over the weekend – which she said didn’t make her ‘overly concerned’ since she’s had them before – she took a test on Monday and it came back positive.

It’s unclear where she picked up the virus, but last week, the mom-of-two went for an extracorporeal pulse activation therapy appointment with Doctor Nad Far Lev, which she shared on her Instagram.

She also attended Katy Perry’s show in Las Vegas, Nevada, one week before her positive test, posting some snaps from the backstage with the singer.

‘I’m trying to think about where I’ve been and what I’ve done, and right now nothing really comes to mind for me,’ she added in the video.

‘But I can say that the’ rona finally got me and I’ve been trying really hard to try and avoid it. But I’m so glad I’m double boosted and double vaxxed.

‘And let’s just hope that my symptoms stay mild because right now, it really just feels like a cold – a slight cold.’

Her diagnosis comes four months after King suffered from a COVID-19 scare when she received a false positive test.

Back in February, King announced that she had to host the show from the back of a van outside of the studio after she tested positive for the illness, adding at the time that she was completely stunned – since she is ‘so freaking careful.’

The reporter said she fell to the floor when she tested positive, revealing she had to ‘literally be picked up’ off the ground by CBS executive producer Shawna Thomas.

However, the 68-year-old then revealed that she went on to receive ‘multiple’ negative tests and was still heading off on her ‘long planned’ vacation to Los Angeles, California, the next day.

She said she decided to film from a van outside, out of an ‘abundance of caution.’
