Everything we know, after interior reveal and new photos

Posted on June 21, 2022 By admin No Comments on Everything we know, after interior reveal and new photos

Mahindra will soon bring the all-new Scorpio-N to the Indian market. Before the official unveiling on the 27th of June, Mahindra has released a lot of photos and videos of the upcoming SUV. What do we get to know from these new pictures and videos? Here is everything that we know about the 2022 Scorpio N.

Bigger than Tata Safari

While it is clear that the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger than the current-generation Scorpio, a leaked brochure reveals that the car will be bigger than the Tata Safari too. The new Scorpio N measures 4662mm long, 1917mm wide and 1870mm tall, while having a wheelbase of 2750mm and an expected ground clearance of 200mm. In comparison, the Tata Safari is 4,661mm in length, 1,894mm in width and is 1,786mm tall. These dimensions make the new Scorpio N 206mm longer, 97mm wider and 125mm shorter than the current-generation Scorpio.

Get’s AWD/4X4

The SUV will also get a dedicated controller for the 4-Xplor knob for the four-wheel-drive system, which will be available only in the top-spec optional four-wheel-drive variants. The new Scorpio-N will offer 4X4 with four modes. There is no information on the availability of the low-ratio transfer case. However, it is highly likely that Mahindra will offer the low-ratio transfer case only with the pure off-road capable – Thar.

Better suspension setup

Mahindra will use rear Penta-link suspension with Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD). The FSD reduces the horizontal movement of the car on the bad road surfaces. The leaked information also reveals that the high-speed handling, cornering and road manners of the new Scorpio are way better than the current-generation model.

Premium dual tone cabin

we can see that the new Mahindra Scorpio-N is bestowed with dual-tone black and brown upholstery for the cabin. The SUV gets brown-coloured perforated leather seats and a soft-touch finish for the central layer of the dashboard. Other bits which uplift the cabin are silver-coloured surrounds for the corner AC vents, center console, and grab handles on the door panels. The new Scorpio-N also gets grab handles on the A-pillars on the inside, which will prove beneficial in ingress and egress from the front seats.

6/7 seat option available

The all-new Scorpio will be available with both six and seven seating configurations, which will be offered in the new Mahindra Scorpio-N. While the six-seater Scorpio-N will feature captain seats in the middle row, the seven-seater version will have a flat bench for the second row with a 60:40 split-folding pattern. All the seats in the SUV will get adjustable headrests and three-point seat belts.

Digital instrument cluster

While the new Mahindra Scorpio-N misses out on a full-TFT instrument console like the XUV700, it does get a pleasant-looking analogue display with a 7-inch TFT MID in between the analogue dials, much like the Kia Seltos.

8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system

It also gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Mahindra’s AdrenoX operating system for better adaptability to voice commands and in-built Alexa. It will also feature personalized user profiles, where you can store audio sources, audio settings, and pre-saved positions for outside rear view mirrors.

The premium sound system from Sony includes 12 speakers, including the roof-mounted speakers and a centrally-placed speaker on the dashboard.

Both petrol and diesel engine options

The new Mahindra Scorpio-N will be offered with the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine from the Thar and XUV700. Both these engine options will be there in the Scorpio-N in a different state of tune – 170 hp for the petrol and 155 hp for the diesel. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N will be positioned as a more premium alternative over the current Scorpio, which will be rebranded as Scorpio Classic.

Loaded with features

Features visible in the cabin of the Scorpio-N include a single-pane sunroof, a new multi-functional steering wheel with cruise control, and a wireless charging pad, which is visible ahead of the transmission lever in the center console. It will miss out on the ADAS features that will remain exclusive to the Mahindra XUV700.

Price announcement later this month

The new Mahindra Scorpio-N will debut in India on June 27th and will be positioned in a niche segment of three-row ladder-on-frame SUVs with no direct rival. However, in terms of price positioning, it will rival the likes of MG Hector, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and Jeep Compass.
