New Republican Governors Association - Ted Strickland Ad Not Mediocre, But Not Great Either

The Republican Governors Association is out today with a television ad that replies to Ted Strickland's recent attack ad.  Here are some of my thoughts:

1.  The ad seems to be shot pretty well, in HD or something.

2.  Its supposed to be a father and daughter talking in a coffee shop.  Obviously, the father figured out he was gay in midlife and divorced the mom.  LOL.

3.  I liked the hits on jobs and the economy, but it seemed kinda whiny on the Kasich attacked first stuff.

4.  I think the Troopergate stuff is too inside baseball for most Ohioans to get.  I would have probably run it exclusively on cable news to reach a more highly educated audience.  Maybe that is happening with a small buy on broadcast for credibility.

5.  While the response isn't great, its not bad and any response is always better than no response.

My friend Matt Naugle said the ad is mediocre. I won't go that far, its slightly above average.

I'll give it a C+ for a first effort, but their messaging still needs a lot of improvement.  Take a look at the ad yourself:
