You've Gotta Read this Blog I Found

Have you ever found a writer that seems like they are writing just for you?  Have you ever had that feeling?

Every now and then, sometimes on the strangest subjects or in the weirdest places, I'll find a writer like that.  Blogs are especially good for this.

You all know that I love Grit and Mother Earth News and I pore over case law for ways to circumvent my homeowners association restrictive covenants against raising chickens.  I've written and tweeted extensively about my adventures in eliminating groundhogs.

So, I'm checking my inbox this morning and reading the latest Grit newsletter when I come across this article entitled, Children and Gardens from a blogger named Shannon Saia.  It could have been my story too.

I've had the garden gloves on, garden gloves off episodes with my daughter.  Alaina has trampled my seedlings on a number of occasions too, gotten frustrated, gotten bored, and sometimes walked off in a huff.  But like Shannon, I wouldn't trade the time and experience in the garden with her for anything.

If you've had or are having a debate with your spouse about getting chickens or goats, if you spend time on the phone and the internet tracking down free sources of horse manure, if you're concerned that the foods that we are eating, and the water we are drinking just is not right, then you've gotta go check out Shannon Saia's blog, A Long Time Coming. Run, don't walk.  Trust me, you will not regret it.
