Romney Fundraising Blows Out GOP Field
Hotline On Call is reporting that Rudy raised over $17 million for the first quarter of 2007, including carryovers from 2006. He has over $10 million remaining on hand.
Mitt Romney blew out the GOP field with a total raised of over $23 million. Romney's total includes a personal loan of $2.5 million. Romney hasn't announced yet how much he has remaining on hand.
As we reported some time ago, Romney may elect to self fund to help close the fundraising gap. He loaned himself in excess of $10 million for his past U.S. Senate and Governor's races. Most experts estimate that he is worth in excess of $500 million.
McCain, as we discussed some time ago, is likely having serious fundraising problems. He has not yet reported today and is rumored to have performed worse than expected.
